Our commitment

Arata Digital Limited is committed to making The Digital MOT usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice recognition software, or keyboard-only navigation. Given what we do — helping other businesses find and fix accessibility issues — we hold ourselves to the same standard.

Conformance status

This website has been designed with reference to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. This is a self-assessment rather than a certification from an independent third party — we welcome an external audit and will update this statement with the results when one has been carried out.

What we've done

Colour contrast: text and interactive elements are checked against WCAG AA contrast minimums (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components), in both our light and dark colour themes.
Keyboard access: every interactive element (links, buttons, form fields, the theme toggle, FAQ accordions) can be reached and operated using a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
Form labels & errors: all form fields have programmatically associated visible labels, marked-required fields, and specific, contextual error messages rather than generic ones.
Semantic structure: the site uses landmark regions (header, main, nav, footer), list markup for navigation menus, and a logical heading hierarchy with a single page title (h1), to support screen reader navigation.
Skip link: a "Skip to main content" link is provided as the first focusable element on the page, for keyboard users.
Works without JavaScript: all page content is visible by default; JavaScript is only used to progressively enhance the experience (scroll animations, the theme toggle, form validation messaging), not to reveal content that would otherwise stay hidden.
Motion & animation: scroll-triggered animations and transitions respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting, so they're minimised for visitors who've asked their device to reduce motion.
Text resizing: content is built with relative units and reflows properly when text is resized up to 200% in the browser.
Status updates: dynamic confirmations (such as after submitting the form) use aria-live so they're announced to screen reader users, not just shown visually.

This site uses Microsoft Clarity for analytics (only after you consent — see our Cookie Policy). Third-party tools are outside our direct control, and we can't guarantee their full accessibility, though we choose providers with reasonable accessibility track records where possible.
